Bullittstarring the too-cool-to-be-alive Steve McQueen is a classic movie. The plot is well written but is a standard crime story. The witness FrankBullitt (McQueen) is meant to protect ends up lying in a pool of blood andoff Bullitt goes to find the killers and the people behind them. Of courseevery one knows Bullitt for its fantastic car chase scene which is shown inall its glory on DVD. McQueen and cast give very strong performances and theonly flaw is it’s a bit predictable.

The features are quite bog standard, the menus are static and the text ishard to read in the production notes and cast section. The saving grace ofthe features is the original featurette “Steve McQueens Commitment toReality”. It’s very pretentious but gives a good behind the scenes look atthe film which isn’t often seen.

The picture quality is outstanding considering the age of the film, the onlyhint of age being the somewhat yellowish appearance. Other than that thereisn’t a speck on the film.

The sound is a bit of a let down. Although it is nice and crisp it has beenquite badly mixed into surround sound, with some of the effects sounding outof place. I recommend watching in stereo or mono.
