Foyle’s War Series 8 – released on DVD on January 19th

Foyle's War

Foyle’s War is the long-running drama series, created by Anthony Horowitz in 2002, which even survived its cancellation in 2008 due to public demand. However, Series 8 is now definitely the last series and it again stars Michael Kitchen (most recently seen in Brian Pern: A Life in Rock as Pern’s manager, John Farrow) as the inimitable Detective Chief Superintendent Foyle, which finds him working with MI5 after the Second World War.

The final episode is on ITV this Sunday at 8pm and then the DVD is released the next day courtesy of RLJ Entertainment’s Acorn Label.

Foyle is a man of scrupulous integrity who, having survived the First World War and solved crime in the Second, now finds himself working with MI5 to keep the country safe, while bringing justice to those who deserve it. The DVD comes complete with exclusive behind the scenes features including interviews with Anthony Horowitz on the true history behind each episode. The new series consists of three powerful new films:

Episode 1 – High Castle: Foyle is drawn into the world of corrupt Nazi businessmen when a University Professor is found brutally murdered in a London park.

Episode 2 – Trespass: Tasked with ensuring security at a high level Palestinian conference, with signs that a plot to bomb the conference maybe under way, Foyle faces a race against time to uncover the truth.

Episode 3 – Elise: When his colleague Hilda Pierce is nearly killed in an attempted assassination, Foyle must re-examine her top-secret role during the war to find out if there was a traitor at the heart of the Special Operations Executive.

Extras include:

  • Meeting John Mahoney
  • A Day in the Life of Foyle’s War
  • Back in Time with Foyle’s War
  • The Truth Behind The Fiction – three post-script interviews with Anthony Horowitz and historian Terry Charman.

Foyle’s War Series 8 also stars Honeysuckle Weeks and Anthony Howell and is released on DVD on January 19th, and click on the packshot for the full-size image. Also, the Series 1-7 DVD Boxset is also still available from Amazon.
