Heaven Sent is the penultimate episode in Doctor Who Series 9, and this begins the final two-parter of this series which will conclude next week with Hell Bent, and this first episode is mostly a solo show for Peter Capaldi.
As before, the BBC seem less interested about putting videos online as there’s less of them. Again, there’s no teaser for the epsode from Steven Moffat, and there’s not even any clips to accompany the trailer! However, there are a couple of short pieces featuring Capaldi, looking at his memories of the First Doctor and his favourite classic episodes.
Trapped in a world unlike any other he has seen, the Doctor faces the greatest challenge of his many lives. One final test. And he must face it alone. Pursued by the fearsome creature known only as the Veil, he must attempt the impossible. If he makes it through, Gallifrey is waiting…
Heaven Sent is directed by Rachel Talalay who, in Who terms, has previously directed last year’s two-part finale, Dark Water and Death In Heaven, and I’ve never forgiven her for her godawful feature-length debut, Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, from 1991.
The episode also stars Jami Reid-Quarrell and Jacqueline Pearce, so the Doctor’s not completely on his own…
Heaven Sent is broadcast tomorrow night on BBC1 at 8.05pm, and then on BBC iPlayer afterwards.
