My BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW of HIM!

Him Him centres around American Football, showing us how Isaiah (Marlon WayansAir) is coming to the end of his career, with Cameron Cade (Tyriq WithersI Know What You Did Last Summer (2025)) becoming the new poster boy for the sport.

However, in a film which is mostly “here’s where some more weird shit happens”, as he throws those footballs at some posts, one bounces off and constantly spins… Spooky!

Alas, he suffers a head injury, which might spell the end for his career. He has just one more chance to prove himself, given that one more knock to the head could mean permanent brain damage.

However, as he begins a week’s training in the middle of nowhere with Isiaih, it’s just the beginning of Cam’s weirdness, whether it’s reason his host is having pints of blood extracted on a regular basis, Jim Jeffries (History Of Swear Words) turning up as creepy physio Marco – despite successfully pulling off this role, or Julia Fox‘s (Night Always Comes) make-up looking like she’s black, but is applying skin whitening, as Elsie White.

There’s even a brief callback to Marlon’s and his brother Damon’s 1992 film, Mo’ Money, as one character quotes the phrase, “Mo’ Money Mo’ Problems“.

And, did I detect elements of Back to the Future‘s tinkly-style music, on day 4 during an outdoor plinking scene?

But just as you’re trying to work out where Him‘s hook is, it just gets very stupid towards the end, and only gives you some interesting visuals – like a gory aftershave advert – and not much of a movie experience, since as this plays out, none of it makes any sense. When you see the initial head injury, I assumed there was some sort of metaphor in that, but I’m not sure. Still, it was worth the trip for Mr Jeffries.
