His And Hers brings together Tessa Thompson (The Marvels IMAX 3D) and Jon Bernthal (The Accountant 2), as Anna and Detective Jack Harper, respectively.
She’s a former TV news anchor, who took a year off after a very trying time – as well as taking off from her job as well, while he’s a cop investigating the murder of a woman in smalltown America where such things rarely happen.
Anna thinks she can just walk back into her job, albeit that now being taken by Lexi Jones (Rebecca Rittenhouse – Good On Paper), who’s all teeth and tits and blonde hair, so she’s going to have to slum it for a while as a roving reporter, out in the field.
The crux of the premise, however, is that Anna and Jack are actually a married couple, which is fair enough, but when the opening monologue postulates that there’s truth or lies in whatever’s actually said, this just makes me think: It’s another drama where everyone has mysterious and dark secrets that they’d even keep from their own mother.
As such, His And Hers gets quite silly early on, and throws in some old tropes you’ve seen before, even if the two leads are good. Not the greatest start to 2026, but then at least it’s not Lynley, which will knock you into a coma.
Thanks to our friends at Netflix for the screener prior to release.
