Hunger Games prequel – Is it coming to cinemas?
Yes, after Suzanne Collins brought us a novel trilogy, which was eeked out into four movies thanks to Lionsgate wanting more bang for their buck, another book is coming next year, which will be set 64 years before the events of the original story.
And no doubt, the Hunger Games prequel will eventually arrive in cinemas… and then it’ll no doubt spawn a number of sequels. And will Jennifer Lawrence play an earlier incarnation of Katniss Everdeen?
Personally, the first film was okay, then The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was also… okay, then we had The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, which was awful, and then The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 fell somewhere inbetween.
So we didn’t need any more, but like Star Wars, if there’s an audience, then get them on board so you can cash in. However, unlike Star Wars, the original movies were fantastic.
And if the book’s out next year – and is set for May 19th 2020, then when is the Hunger Games prequel coming to cinemas? I’ll predict the film has a release date in November 2021, which is the month in which they were all released before.
Still, the proof of the pudding will come out in the eating… or something like that. Meanwhile, I’ll let Big Bird spell things out…
