Inspector Montalbano Collection 2 out on DVD from Sept 3rd

Inspector Montalbano

‘There may be murders, corruption and sleaze, dodgy politics but there’s a hint of comic opera about it. It looks gorgeous.’ – The Guardian

Based on the bestselling novels of Andrea Camilleri, Inspector Montalbano is the hit Italian detective series starring Luca Zingaretti as the eponymous lead who operates within Italy’s precarious justice system, immersed in a world of murder, betrayal, temptation and politics.

Following the huge success of dark Scandinavian detective series’ such as The Killing and The Bridge, Inspector Montalbano is the Mediterranean counterpoint rich in good food, sea, sun, and the strikingly handsome inspector himself. Originally screened on BBC Four, Inspector Montalbano Collection Two comes to UK DVD as a three-disc set on 3 September 2012 courtesy of Acorn Media.

In the second collection Inspector Montalbano takes on six new cases and a variety of temptations, including some seductive fellow officers and some fine Italian cooking. The episodes are as follows:

Excursion to Tindari (La gita a Tindari)
    The Artist’s Touch (Tocco d’artista)
The Sense of Touch (Il senso del tatto)
Montalbano’s Croquettes (Gli arancini di Montalbano)
The Scent of the Night (L’odore della notte)
The Goldfinch and the Cat (Gatto e cardellino)

Facing every challenge while deflecting heavy-handed politics from above and mafia influences from below and keeping his staff focused, Montalbano is a force to be reckoned with.
