Memoria is another movie to file under the brief of “looks weird, but brilliant”.
Sam Dillon stars as Ivan Cohen, a young boy living in Palo Alto, California. Unsatisfied by his slacker group of friends, his love for a girl who doesn’t know he exists and a dysfunctional family life, he is struggling to find his place in the world…
The film also stars Thomas Mann, Teo Halm and James Franco, and is co-written and co-directed by Nina Ljeti and Vladimir de Fontenay.
It’s also a very short film at just 70 minutes and, based on the trailer, is shot completely in 4:3, so there’s certainly something very different about it.
Memoria is out tomorrow in the US, but as of yet, there’s no UK release date. I hope we don’t have to wait too long.
