Monster Hunter is the movie version of the famous videogame series, and like the six-strong Resident Evil series – also based on a Capcom game, it comes courtesy of husband and wife team Paul WS Anderson and Milla Jovovich.
Synopsis: When Lt. Artemis (Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported to a new world, they engage in a desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers.
Monster Hunter currently doesn’t have a UK release date, or anywhere else for that matter.
It was originally due out in the UK on December 4th. Normally, I’d expect it to be held over for the Jan/Feb ‘crap slot’ (i.e. the non-Oscar/BAFTA contenders) where their films usually get dumped, even though they don’t deserve that… although Liam Neeson’s Taken 59 etc always deserves that. That said, his latest, Honest Thief, came out a few months ago. But then, this has been 2020, and look how things have gone.
Most recently, I reviewed Wonder Woman 1984, but just as the release date comes round, the New World Order shuts down most of the country.
I certainly hope I can see this latest Jovovich/Anderson escape from reality on the big screen because they do look absolutely stellar, especially in 3D. I’m not sure if this one will be in 3D, though, given the fact the poster doesn’t mention it. I do hope it does, though.
Writer/Director: Paul WS Anderson
