11 Brand New Heavies – Sometimes *
Brand New Heavies back with a brand new singer in the form of Siedah Garrettwho duetted with Michael Jackson in 1987 for “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You”.
This new single is very good, the video having a sixties feel, but does anyoneknow why they have a new singer?
5 Depeche Mode – It’s No Good *
is wrong, because it’s excellent. The second single taken from the latest outputfrom Depeche Mode is just as moody as their last single, “Barrel of a Gun”,and thankfully this record has been getting a fair amount of airplay.
4 Smoke City – Underwater Love *
Advert time again. Seen the latest advert for Levi’s with the bloke beingknocked off his boat into the sea, and then almost having his Levi jeanspulled off by mermaids? That’s the song.
Rumours that the mermaids are working for Tesco’s have not been proved.
(For those not in the know, the Tesco’s supermarket chain have started sellingcut-price Levi jeans – something that Levi are NOT happy about)
3 No Doubt – Don’t Speak
Hanging on for another week at No.3. New single, “Just a Girl” out April 14th.
2 Supergrass – Richard III * !!!
Single of the week goes to Supergrass for this excellent hard rock tune, whichis memorable from the off. However, why is it that they only seem to releasea single once in a blue moon? It was ages after “Alright” before “Going Out”,and then again for this single. What gives?
1 R. Kelly – I Believe I Can Fly *1st Week at No.1*
Surprise of the week goes to R. Kelly for climbing 4 places back up to go toNo.1. Okay, so the song is taken from the hit film, “Space Jam”, but stillit’s strange for a single to go UP to No.1, rather than straight in, whichcancels out the run held last week of 7 singles going straight in.

15. The Beat – Mirror in the Bathroom
Yes I know it’s ages old, but it was re-released again last year, albeit onlymaking No.44 in January. One of the best Ska bands around though originallyreleased this classic tune in May 1980 when it reached No.4.
Now after reading this, who ISN’T hummimg to themselves,
“Mirror in the Bathroom, I just can’t see, the door is locked just you and me, Shall I take you to a restaurant that’s got glass tables, you can watch yourself while you are eating”…
