Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

6 Sarah Whatmore – When I Lost YouOne of the Pop Idol rejects, but a reasonable pop tune and she’s welcomeon my TV screen anytime.

5 Ronan Keating – I Love It When We Do :O ===Just when you didn’t think he couldn’t get any more bland, he transcendsall boundaries with this… utter shit (I can’t describe it any other way),only loved by the few fans Boyzone have left and Radio 2’s Richard Allinson.

3 (CHART ENTRY) Kelly Osbourne – Papa Don’t Preach :O ===Only here because of the dull documentary “The Osbournes” which has featuredon MTV, but she has none of her father’s talent. Her hairdo at her recentG.A.Y. performance was so over the top it looked like some demented cartooncharacter from the 80s, the name of which escapes me, but the heavy ‘fringe’reminded me of someone.

Also, due to some shops receiving early copies, this single went into thecharts at a lowly No.74 a few weeks back. Shame it didn’t stay there.

2 Liberty X – Got to Have Your LoveA rather mediocre cover of the Mantronix hit which made No.4 in Dec 1989,the background being identical to the hit from 13 years ago too.

Still, at least they’re doing better than Hear’Say who have about as much ofa career left as Michael Barrymore.

1 Atomic Kitten – The Tide is High *3rd Week at No.1*

A rather poor cover of the Blondie track. Nuff said.

This is the 19th single in a row to go straight in at No.1 :

  • 1. Aaliyah – More Than a Woman
  • 2. George Harrison – My Sweet Lord (R)
  • 3. Enrique Iglesias – Hero
  • 4. Westlife – World of Our Own
  • 5. Will Young – Anything is Possible/Evergreen
  • 6. Gareth Gates – Unchained Melody
  • 7. Oasis – The Hindu Times
  • 8. Sugababes – Freak Like Me
  • 9. Holly Valance – Kiss Kiss
  • 10. Ronan Keating – If Tomorrow Never Comes
  • 11. Liberty X – Just a Little
  • 12. Eminem – Without Me
  • 13. Will Young – Light My Fire
  • 14. Elvis – A Little Less Conversation (remix)
  • 15. Gareth Gates – Anyone of Us
  • 16. Darius – Colourblind
  • 17. Sugababes – Round Round
  • 18. Blazin Squad – Crossroads
  • 19. Atomic Kitten – The Tide is High

Dominator’s Top 50 of 2001The following is my look back at my Top 50 of 2001.

38. Papa Roach – Between Angels and Insects

This was the lesser of the two hits for the band last year, making onlyNo.17 in May 2001. However, they were better known for “Last Resort” whichwent in at No.3 in February, which still gets plenty of airplay today.

The video for this track was later censored for daytime viewings, which wasa shame as you didn’t get to see cockroaches flying out of the lead singer’smouth during lunchtime…
