CHART TIME !
(* – my current favourites)
(!!! – Single Of The Week!!!)
(:O === the current all-time hate that makes even my smilie want to hurl!)
( (R) – Repeat., ie. a re-release)
A brief analysis on the current chart situation…
12 new entries :
I presume the other track is a cover of the David Bowie classic.
35 Village People – YMCA (R) *The old gay classic dusted off and re-released. Probably the only decentdance song for the new millennium. 27 Lightning Seeds – Life’s Too ShortI heard this on the lottery show. It’s good, but not their best.Shame that they don’t seem to sell so many records these days. 12 Texas – When We Are TogetherAnother single from The Hush, but not half as good as the first two.Quite formulaic and boring, actually. 11 Garbage – The World is Not EnoughTheme tune to the new Bond film. I haven’t heard it yet though. 2 Cliff Richard – The Millennium PrayerThe Lord’s Prayer set to the music of Auld Lang Syne. Sounds like a dreadfulprospect, and apparently so is the record, but I’ve yet to hear it.BTW, it’s been banned from Radio 2’s playlist so it must be bad!
1 Wamdue Project – King of my Castle * *1st Week at No.1*I heard this song several times before I knew who the act were, but it’sanother no-name one-hit wonder act. Top tune though. This is the 32nd single to go straight in at No.1.

Dominator’s Top 50 of 1998
48. Tanita Tikaram: Stop ListeningTanita released a couple of singles last year, but only “I Don’t Wanna LoseAt Love” got any airplay on VH1. “Stop Listening” was much better but onlymade No.67 in June 98, so clearly her target audience have “stopped listening”.
