Dominator’s Top 50 of 2002
Normally, this is the point where I list my favourite Top 50 tracks of theyear and those that failed to make it. However, for the first time ever Icould only find 39 tracks out of the entire year, and some of those werefrom the same bands, so that made it 33 separate bands, and I generallyonly include one track per band.
Hence, unless I change my mind, or the music for 2003 improves drastically(hell, even the usually-reliable Pet Shop Boys bored me with their singles!),I won’t be doing weekly highlights from my top tracks of the past year.
The 39 tracks in alphabetical order are:
- A: Nothing
Alfie: A Word in Your Ear
Alien Ant Farm: Movies
Ash: There’s a Star
Bjork: Cocoon
Chemical Brothers: Star Guitar
Coral: Dreaming of You
David Gray: The Other Side
DB Boulevard: Point of View
Doves: Pounding
George Michael: Freeek!
Goldfinger: Open Your Eyes
Incubus: Wish You Were Here, Are You In
Jakatta & Seal: My Vision
Jamiroquai: Love Foolosophy, Corner of the Earth
JJ72: Formulae
Kylie Minogue: In Your Eyes
Ladytron: Seventeen, Playgirl
Marilyn Manson: Tainted Love
Martin Grech: Open Heart Zoo
Moby: We Are All Made of Stars
Ozzy Osbourne: Get Me Through/Dreamer
Pod: Alive, Youth of the Nation
Puddle of Mudd: Blurry, Control
Puretone: Addicted to Bass
Red Hot Chili Peppers: By the Way, The Zephyr Song
Royksopp: Eple, Remind Me, So Easy
Sarah Whatmore: When I Lost You
Super Furry Animals: It’s Not the End of the World
Turin Brakes: Long Distance
White Stripes: Fell in Love with a Girl
X-Ecutioners: Going Down
X-Press 2 & David Byrne: Lazy
The song I’m completely sick of:
