Mrs Brown’s Boys Series 1

Brilliantly funny Irish comedian Brendan O’Carroll stars as out-spoken Irish mammy Agnes Brown in this brand new comedy series that aired on BBC One. Join Agnes Brown as she indulges in her favourite pastime – meddling in the lives of her six children! Whether she’s tackling love, life, death or dealing with the in-laws – Mrs Brown is one mammy that you don’t mess with. Prepare for a riot of bad behaviour – It’s a little bit rude, a little bit crude and hysterical fun for everyone.

Mrs Brown’s Boys Series 1 is released on Blu-ray (£17.99) and DVD (£12.99).

Chalet Girl

Pretty tomboy Kim Matthews (Felicity Jones) used to be a champion skateboarder–but now she’s stuck in a dead end job trying to support her dad. Opportunity comes knocking in the form of a catering job in the one of the most exclusive chalets in the Alps. At first, Kim’s baffled by this bizarre new world of posh people, champagne and skiing–but then she discovers snowboarding, and the chance to win some much-needed prize money at the big end-of-season competition.

But before she can become a champion again, Kim’s going to have to dig deep to overcome her fears. Hard enough, without the complicating factor of Jonny (Gossip Girl’s Ed Westwick)–her handsome though spoken for boss…

Chalet Girl is released on Blu-ray (£12.99) and DVD (£9.99).

Spartacus – Gods Of The Arena

The House of Batiatus is on the rise, basking in the glow of its infamous champion Gannicus, whose skill with a sword is matched only by his thirst for wine and women. These are the times a young Batiatus has been waiting for. Poised to overthrow his father and take control, he’ll freely betray anyone to ensure his gladiators are in the highest demand. And he’ll have his loyal and calculating wife Lucretia by his side for every underhanded scheme, drawing on the brazen talents of her seductive friend Gaia when it counts.

Together, they will stop at nothing to deceive the masses, seize power and bleed Capua dry in this audacious prequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand.

Spartacus – Gods Of The Arena is released on Blu-ray (£25.93) and DVD (£14.99).

There they become involved in a dispute between some beleaguered colonists and the crew of an Interplanetary Mining Corporation (IMC) spaceship over the ownership rights to the planet. Sugartown

Quirky new BBC One comedy drama series revolving around a small seaside hamlet that was once the stick-of-rock capital of Britain. But times have changed and today rock factory owner Jason Burr (Shaun Dooley) is fighting to stay afloat as the community s main employer when his brother Max (Tom Ellis) returns with big plans for the town s redevelopment.

However, the tight-knit community don t want frappucinos, boutique hotels and hip bars but as the battle lines are drawn could a new dance school inject some fun into the town and be the way to revive its fortunes? With an all-star cast and offbeat characters that are both amusing and loveable, Sugartown will sweeten the parts that other dramas fail to reach.

Well, for my money, this was simply dreadful. Starring Sue Johnston, Tom Ellis and Shaun Dooley, it was on BBC1 at 10.25pm and was the kind of thing you’d expect to be on at 9pm, but thanks to some unbelievably poor scheduling, there was a repeat of George Gently during primetime, bumping this to a post-news slot.

Sugartown is released on DVD (£10.99).
