The Office has closed…
Well, for now, series 1 of BBC2’s excellent comedy series The Officehas come to the end of its run (those who missed the final episode can seeit repeated on BBC Choice on Thursday at 9pm), but no decision has yet beenmade on commissioning a second series.
Have your say to either:reception@bbc.co.uk orpov@bbc.co.uk, the latter beingfor their Pointless Views programme.
But that might just be Small Potatoes to Channel 4…
Because the second series of Channel 4’s excellent sitcom, Small Potatoescontinues tonight at the ridiculously late time of 11.05pm and featuresTommy Tiernan as a video store owner and his friends.
It’s an equally clever and unconventional sitcom and has no canned laughterwhich places it alongside The Office as sitcoms that makes them towerabove the rest.
Small Potatoes also stars Sanjeev Bhaskar, Morgan Jones, Omid Djalliand with guest stars Smack the Pony‘s Fiona Allen andBhaskar’s Goodness Gracious Me stablemate Meera Syal.
Alas, the bigwigs at Channel 4 have seen fit to ensure this gets an increasinglydwindling audience, since next week’s episode is scheduled an hour laterat 12.05am.
Big Brother 2’s Helen and Paul declare their love…
But the world no longer cares because that finished three weeks ago andif they wanted to rock the media world they should’ve shagged on the firstnight out together instead of pretending to wait to see if it was right forthem.

Virus gone…
Fingers crossed that the “rmsirc.bat” batch file fromSophos.com hasfinally solved the problem and thanks to a little help from my friends,I’ve got rid of the W32Badtransa virus via the use of Norton Antivirus.
Here’s hoping there’s no repeat and if I ever find out who sent me the virus,I’ll punch them in the mouth so hard their teeth will fly out of their arse…- (c) Viz.
August 14th :Red Faction revisited on PS2…
It’s rare that I’d go back to a review not long after placing it online thefirst time, but I’ve had to increase the enjoyment-o-meter from 4.5/5 to thefull 5. The reason? I’ve continued to play it day in, day out, until the pointwhere I finally completed the game.
Yes, the graphics could still do with being less jerky and this fact doesn’timprove as time goes on, but there was something about having to crack onand kill the bast… er, dastardly guards until I reached the end
Now I can catch up on sleep after the past few weeks of playing this…
Red Factionis online and out now on PS2.

That virus again…
Day 3 of the fun(!), or the “fun.pif” as the Sircam virus would have it,or is that the W32Badtransa virus, since that’s reared its ugly head too.
Hopefully, I’ll have it sorted within the next day or two, but tonight I hada problem running an anti-virus program called Sophos Sweep, but Ifreaked when I downloaded and installed it, along with the sircam.ide filefor it to look out for, but because I lacked a certain batch file that Icouldn’t download at the time, I found it rendered my PC unusable as I couldn’teven run the Control Panel to uninstall Sophos and get control of my PC back!!
(I had similar prob over the weekend with Norton when it did the same thing butit at least let me rethink about what to do with the file, so I could choosefor it NOT to forget it was there, when I rebooted and it autoran Nortonagain)
I ended up running the PC in safe mode to uninstall Sophos, but it reaffirmed mybeliefs that Bill Gates didn’t invent a brand of PC software in Windows, buta fantastic cure for constipation when things go wrong (!)

That virus again…
After yesterday’s post, I tried to eliminate the virus I have (Sircam) withNorton Antivirus 2001, even after updating it, but to no avail.
It’s becoming a big pain in the arse and apologies if anyone else gets affectedbut if anyone can help me with it please email me directly.
Last night I also encounted the “Badtrans” virus. I’m starting to wish I’dnever installed the antivirus program so I could live in blissful ignorance!

August 12th :Have you received a virus from me…?
Apologies if you have, but I found out yesterday after downloading a programcalled WSpecEm (a ZX Spectrum Emulator) that Outlook Express kindly sent out acopy of that, and possibly one other file of around 76k in length, to anyoneit wanted.
Sensible people have kindly pointed out the problem to me and I have run myvirus checker in the hope it doesn’t happen again. Not-so-sensible people havereplied hurling general abuse in my direction, so thanks a bunch to them(!)
This is certainly the first time it has happened, most likely because I stillsend out most emails from within DOS and only using Outlook Express when Ineed to download expected big emails from friends and PR companies et al.
IMPORTANT: Note that if there’s a big email in my inbox that I’m notexpecting and I cannot identify who the sender or subject is, then it will justget deleted and if I don’t receive it then it’s your own fault for not beingclear or for not forewarning that you were about to send me a massive file.
