Next Gen is a forthcoming animated action/adventure movie about the bittersweet power of memories, and tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a rebellious girl and a runaway combat robot, as they unite to stop a madman’s plan for technological world domination.
I’m not normally a fan of CGI movies like this, as they all look designed by committee, and with a big box office in mind, but as this is made by Netflix and will go no further than your own Netflix subscription, can it buck the trend and do something different? Netflix’s TV output is certainly giving regular telly a shot in the arm, and both Okja and Death Note were two of my favourite movies of 2017, so the signs look good.
Next Gen is available on Netflix from September 7th.
