Outcome centres around Reef Hawk (Keanu Reeves – Good Fortune), a former child movie and TV star, who’s now an adult, and took the last five years off, due to a heroin addiction he’s not talking about to anyone, especially not the press.
Jonah Hill (Y2K) is unrecognisable as Ira, his “crisis lawyer”, telling him about a video that’s out there, and which might derail everything as he tries to relaunch his career, but (a) he doesn’t know what’s on it, and (b) he can’t stop it; and Reef he can’t find anything online about it when he Googles it.
Add in a cameo from Martin Scorsese as Reef’s former manager, Red, and Susan Lucci as Reef’s mother, Dinah, now a participant on a ‘Real Housewives’-type show, and looking nothing like her 80 years of age, and while Outcome has something to say about how disconnected we are from each other, and how few have time just to hear how another person’s day is, the film feels very ‘all over the place’, like a series of disconnected scenes, without a real plot to tie them together.
Hence, for most, the outcome of this film may be most people switching it off before the end credits begin. Even Cameron Diaz (Back In Action) comes second in the cast list, yet just playing a friend of Reef’s, her role is entirely superfluous.
As an aside, how come Ira’s toilet doesn’t have a window?

Outcome is on Apple TV from tomorrow. It’s not yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD. However, once announced, it will appear on the New DVD Blu-ray 3D and 4K releases UK list.
