TEMPLAR GOES INTERGALACTIC AS IT PREPARES TO LAUNCH NEW SMS TXT AND ONLINE CONTENT FOR ITS LATEST OLOGY BOOK
ALL PART OF THE IIF EXPERIENCE: Interactive, Informative, Fun!
Its all-systems-go as Templar begins the countdown for the launch of Alienology: The Complete Guide to Extraterrestrials, the latest book in the 17-million selling Ology series.
The leading childrens publisher is pushing new frontiers with the book, which will be complemented by a unique digital experience that will allow readers to turn their mobile phones into Intergalactic Communicators to receive incoming alien transmissions. SMS ringtones and animated alien cards can be downloaded and traded using a mobile phone. These are football trading cards for the new generation! Meanwhile, a visit to the OlogyWorld website will allow readers access to an online, interactive book, where users can play games, explore the Space Station of the Intergalactic Council and create their own Intergalactic Council ID card (see Digital Experience below).
Book Synopsis:
WE ARE NOT ALONE
Have you ever wondered if your teacher, your pet, or even your parents might be aliens in disguise? Is it possible that NASA owes its achievements to extraterrestrials secretly passing on their advanced knowledge of space travel? What if H.G. Wells War of the Worlds was, in fact, a blueprint for a planned alien invasion?
These are just some of the questions posed by shape-shifting Professor Allen Gray, the alien author of Alienology: The Complete Guide to Extraterrestrials.
Combining varying degrees of fact and fiction, Alienology is the ultimate guide to alien life and offers readers the chance to become members of S.P.A.C.E (the Society for the Promotion of Alien Contact with Earth).
Professor Gray tests readers to see who has what it takes to become a member of the Intergalactic Council and help save the world in the battle against S.L.I.M.E. (Surface-Living Intelligent Multiplying Endolith). Potential recruits must demonstrate their intelligence by exploring the universe and solving a series of out-of-this-world logic tests along the way, including brainteasers and alien codes.
Digital Experience:
The Alienology IIF experience has two strands:
1. SMS rewards:
Text SPACE to 88880 to receive an exclusive** alien message complete with ringtone and animated trading card from the Intergalactic Council (SMS active from 28 September 2010).
Users pay £10 (approx.) for a further 4 SMS downloads**. These are received as users progress through an Intergalactic Council mission, delivered as a downloadable Mission File. When the user has received all 5 downloads, he/she is entitled to upload a picture of him/herself to create an Intergalactic ID Card, which allows FREE access to the online interactive experience (see below).
2. Online Interactive Experience:
Alternatively consumers can pay £4.99 to access the online interactive experience, which takes the form of a fact-packed recruits handbook to COSMOS 5, the space station of the Intergalactic Council. Recruits can explore the space station, discover the secrets of dark matter and play science-based games (such as alien autopsy and element mixing) to discover their most fitting role on the council. They will also have the opportunity to create their own Intergalactic Council ID card and watch a personalised welcome message. This will be an option for those without a mobile phone or for those who have not yet purchased the book.
Campaign and online experience launches 28 September 2010.
** The standard messaging, data and downloading rates of your mobile phone network provider will apply to both your text and the downloading of any ringtone/other material. Permission from a parent / guardian / adult bill payer is required. To check your mobile phone compatibility and for full terms and conditions of participation, please go to www.ologyworld.com/aliensFAQ once campaign is live.
The book is released on October 1st and sells on Amazon for £9.00 (RRP £17.99).
