Network Distributing is delighted to announce the first ever UK DVD release of the children’s TV show MAGPIE VOLUME 1(E) on 29th June 2009, RRP £19.99. This DVD contains 12 of the best episodes of the popular programme originally broadcast on ITV between 1968 and 1980.

A hipper alternative to Blue Peter, MAGPIE was broadcast live twice a week by Thames Television. With a knack of tapping into the latest trends, the emphasis was firmly on fashion, music and fun. The series was presented across its 12 year run by Susan Stranks, Tony Bastable, Pete Brady, Douglas Rae, Mick Robertson, Jenny Hanley and Tommy Boyd. And not forgetting their rather portly mascot – Murgatroyd the magpie! Out of approximately 1000 episodes made, less than a hundred survive. This volume contains the 1976 Christmas show and an edition broadcast live from Bealieu.

Special Features:

  • My Brother David – this 1971 edition showcases the frank and moving portrait of David, a special needs child, as seen through the eyes of his elder sister
  • Nearly half an hour’s worth of orphaned film inserts from programmes that no long exist
  • The first Magpie Annual in PDF format

The DVD is released on June 29th, it runs for 300 mins and retails for £19.99 on DVD,but is currently on Amazon at the link above for £12.98.
