Häxan: Witchcraft Through The Ages is a documentary about the history of witchcraft, told in a variety ofstyles, from illustrated slideshow to dramatised events of alleged real-life events, right up to the earlytwentieth century (when the film was made).
Depending on which version you’re watching, the commentary is either in the form of intertitles or narration byWilliam S.Burroughs, recorded in the mid-1960s. Both versions are included on this DVD and the former has hadtwo new scores created for it, one by composer Geoff Smith performed on hammered dulcimer and the second offeringa dynamic electro-acoustic score by UK group Bronnt Industries Kapital.
Note also, that this film is being screened in selected cinemas nationwide with a live dulcimer accompanimentby Geoff Smith.
