John Thaw stars in the Network Distributing release of the acclaimed ITV drama, PLASTIC MAN THE COMPLETE SERIES (12) out on 1st June 2009, RRP £12.99.
Thaw is Joe MacConnell, a highly respected, principled and charismatic NHS plastic surgeon who seems to have it all: a wonderful, supportive wife, three lovely kids, a beautiful home and a fulfilling job he is passionately devoted to. But when the fiery, alluring Louise (Frances Barber), a clinical psychologist, appears in his life, he is torn between the deep love for his wife and his consuming and ultimately destructive desire for his younger colleague.
Multiple BAFTA winner John Thaw brings a typically emotional power to the role of the compassionate, troubled consultant who succumbs to temptation with devastating consequences.
Searing performances from Frances Barber and Sorcha Cusack as Joes wife, Erin and sensitive and perceptive handling of the subject by Casualty writer Robin Mukherjee make for essential viewing in this compelling series first broadcast on ITV in 1999.
The Broadcasting Standards Commission (now OFCOM) upheld complaints by viewers of a rape scene in the series because they felt it went beyond acceptable boundaries.
The DVD is out on June 1st, it runs for 100 minutes and retails for £12.99 on DVD,but is currently on Amazon at the link above for £8.48.
