The first two series’ of Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em, the hugely popular 1970scomedy, co-written by and starring Michael Crawford as the truly unforgettable Frank Spencer,is to be made available on VHS and DVD for the first time by Second Sight fromOctober 21st.
Frank Spencer (Michael Crawford) is just about as accident-prone as anyone can be.Everything he touches falls apart; everybody he meets ends up on the verge of anervous breakdown and every job he manages to land lasts less than a day. Yet hislong-suffering wife, Betty, (Michelle Dotrice) somehow manages to cope with all ofthe problems and never gives up being in love with Frank.
Disaster-prone but always likeable, his innocence, dogged persistence, inability to cope with even thesimplest technology and outrage at the injustices life throws at him set the scene fortwo series’ worth of hilarious encounters. From domestic appliances to motor vehicles, officialsand in-laws, it seems that just about anyone or anything can cause chaos in closeproximity to Frank – but that just makes him all the more impossible and all the more endearing.
