Pride and Prejudice and Zombies does exactly what it says on the tin, taking Jane Austen‘s classic novel… and adding zombies!!
Austen’s classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England is faced with a new challenge – an army of undead zombies.
This new movie boasts a strong cast of Lena Headey, Lily James, Matt Smith, Jack Huston, Douglas Booth, Charles Dance, Sam Riley, Suki Waterhouse, Hermione Corfield, Bella Heathcote, Dolly Wells, Emma Greenwell, Aisling Loftus, Ellie Bamber and Sally Phillips. It’s also written for the screen by Burr Steers, and rather loosely based on the Jane Austen nov… nah, it’s not at all, is it?
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is due for release in the UK on February 12th 2016, and normally the first two months of the year are – unless they’re Oscar/BAFTA contenders – films that generally suck. So, given how much fun this looks, it must be an Oscar/BAFTA contender!
I don’t normally do period dramas, so this will easily swing me round, and yes I know I reviewed the recent Sunday night BBC1 dramas – with An Inspector Calls being the best and Lady Chatterley’s Lover being utterly terrible – all of which were period pieces, but there were a lot of great cast members in those, so I gave them a try, and 90 minutes at home was better than going to the cinema for 2hrs+
