Sanctuary Digital Entertainment presents The Laureate Collection – classic cinema from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, beautifully restored and remastered on DVD.

England – 1947 and the time of Princess Elizabeth’s marriage to PhilipMountbatten. Successful brother and sister dance team Tom (Fred Astaire) and EllenBowen (Jane Powell) are invited to perform in London, and whilst thereboth of them, like the royals, find romance.

Originally released in 1950 and directed by Stanley Donen (“Singing’ In TheRain”, “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”), Royal Wedding features the legendaryscene of Fred Astaire dancing on the ceiling. Screenplay and lyrics are byAlan Jay Lerner (“My Fair Lady”, “Paint Your Wagon”) and the music was composedby Burton Lane (“Finian’s Rainbow”).

This classic film, available on video and DVD, is presented in Original AspectRatio (4:3 Academy Frame) with sound in Dolby Digital (mono) with the addedoption of English sub-titles on the DVD.

To make this film the ultimate Special Collector’s Edition many features havebeen added to this DVD including exclusive audio commentary from Fred Astaire’sdaughter Ava, graphic illustration of the “Walls and Ceiling” dance sequence,photo gallery, cast profiles, scene selection and two theatrical trailers: “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” and “Yolanda and the Thief”. The “Walls andCeiling” sequence from Royal Wedding will also be shown at Ava’s star-studdedtribute to her father, “Fred Astaire, His Daughter’s Tribute”, taking place atthe London Palladium on Sunday 18th February.

The Laureate Collection is a series of much-loved and historically importantfilms that has been researched, rescued and restored by The Laureate Company’sfounder, Ken Barnes. Barnes’ career as a Hollywood record producer brought himinto contact with many stars of the era, including a 12-year working relationshipand friendship with Fred Astaire. It was these contacts, combined withBarnes’ love and encyclopedic knowledge of film, that inspired The LaureateCollection of which Charade is one of the first releases.
