Universal Pictures Video announces the release of a range of influential andcult films that are available to buy on DVD for the first time from 12th May2003. Brought to the screen by some of the world’s most celebrated directors,titles in the range include Wild at Heart (David Lynch), Rumble Fish(Francis Ford Coppola), Repo Man (Alex Cox), Walker (Alex Cox),Car Wash (Michael Schultz) and Dazed and Confused (Richard Linklater).

Wild at Heart

When Sailor Ripley is released from jail he immediately runs off to New Orleanswith his girlfriend Lula. However, when Lula’s psychopathic mother discoversthat they are missing, she goes crazy and sends a detective and a hit man acrossAmerica to track down the estranged couple. During their journey, Lula andSailor try to stay one step ahead whilst relating the bizarre events of theirlife to date.

Rusty still lives in the shadow of his older brother, TheMotorcycle Boy, who before his mysterious disappearance had headed up the streetgang. When Rusty gets into a fight and seriously injures himself, his brotherreappears and sets into motion a series of events that change Rusty’s lifeforever.

Frustrated punk rocker, Otto gets into a fight with a fellow supermarketworker, is fired and subsequently dumped by his girlfriend. Later that day,as he wanders the streets feeling dejected, he meets Harry Dean Stanton, aRepo Man who quickly offers him a job. Otto soon finds himself entangled ina web of intrigue concerning a huge repossession reward for a car that holds Top Secret cargo in its trunk.

Walker

A film that has great relevance in today’s political climate, Walker is set in19th Century America and is based around William Walker a man who abandonspotential careers in law, politics, journalism and medicine to become a soldierof fortune. Backed by robber baron, Cornelius Vanderbilt, Walker leads abloody and violent invasion of Nicaragua in order to install a new governmentand make the country safe for Vanderbilt’s steam ships. When Walker overturnsthe Nicaraguan government, he sets himself up as their ruthless president inthe belief that ‘America has the moral right to protect our neighbours fromoppression’.

Packed with memorable scenes and catchy tunes this 1976 classic spawned thesong of the same name and is based around a close-knit group of black car washemployees. On one bizarre day a host of strange visitors arrive on theirforecourt leading to a series of hilarious events. Among the day’s guests areMiss Beverley Hills, a money-hungry preacher, the Pointer Sisters and a manwith a drinks bottle who is thought to be the notorious ‘pop bottle bomber’.

Dazed and Confused

In Austin, Texas, it’s the last day of high school and the senior kids have anaimless summer of drugs, drink and sex to look forward to. However, theritual hazing of the freshmen must be carried out before the holidays commence.Led by bullies such as O’Bannion, physical and mental humiliation is forcedupon juniors like Mitch and Sabrina. When school finishes for the day, theteenagers set out to find a party leading to a night filled with mayhem andmisfortune.
