My BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW of REMINDERS OF HIM!

Reminders Of HimReminders Of Him Reminders Of Him

Reminders Of Him does what it says on the tin, because it reminded me of last year’s weird thriller, Him, given that it also stars Tyriq Withers.

And given that it centres around the protagonist, Kenna (Maika MonroeThe Guest, Longlegs), and the death of her boyfriend, I also kept thinking it was called ‘Remains of Him‘.

Anyhoo, in the dim and distant past, her boyfriend, Scotty (Rudy Pankow), died in a car accident, and since she was driving while drunk, she went to jail for a long time… but now she’s out and has returned to her backwater hometown, and staying in the same crappy flat she used to live in. You’d think you’d want a bit of a change, but anyway…

For some reason that was never explained, the mad cat landlady insists that every tenant takes IN a cat, when in most circumstances in reality, pets are not allowed.

Still, once she’s got accustomed to it, she certainly has a LOVELY PUSSY! And she can’t WAIT to show everyone her PUSSY!

Since she’s been in jail for 7 years, and there’s a daughter out there she hasn’t yet met, it’s basically Con Air! But given that the girl lives with Scott’s parents, and they certainly don’t want to know her, can she somehow redeem herself so she can meet her? Either way, it’s going to take two hours to find out.

As for Mr Withers, he pops up in the role of running the local bar, since he was Scotty’s best friend, and his name is Ledger… what a fucking stupid name!

Sadly, the most predictable thing about another adaptation from Colleen Hoover, after 2024’s It Ends With Us (where Blake Lively tried to besmirch Justin Baldoni’s name with fake allegations), is that it’s it’s so predictable and puke-inducing. Plus, the roads have more potholes than Stockport!

And, if I was to say that Maika Monroe frequently walks around in Daisy Dukes and cowboy boots – with great legs going into them, a lot of women would shout “SEXIST!!!”, but given that the men walk around topless even though the women don’t, and the same women think nothing about drooling over them.

Yes, Tyriq shows of his flat chest, but she doesn’t show off her’s…

On the plus side, aside from Kenna befriending a Down’s Syndrome girl who also lives in the same apartment block, and adding some humour given she has no filter for telling people what she thinks of them, Reminders Of Him looks great with its stunning forest locations in Canada.

But as it’s a 12-cert, no-one’s allowed to swear properly. Well, you might get a couple of f-words to to stop it being a PG movie – given that in the US, a PG-rated non-kids film = box office death, but beyond that, it’s all “frickin'”, which is ridiculous. NO-ONE says that!

And everyone’s full of silly, random tattoos, like Kenna has let her daughter draw on everyone with a felt-tip pen.

NOTE: There are no mid- nor post-credits scenes.

Reminders Of Him is in cinemas now, and is available to pre-order on Blu-ray and DVD.

You can also buy the novel in paperback.
