Look out! Here come The Kayas.

On their up-and-coming tour, they’re gonna whip up a right old storm.

This cutting edge four-piece from Oswestry Shropshire are causing a bit of astir in the area. Only formed this year, they have garnered a considerablefan-base, as seen at the album launch at the Ironworks in Oswestry on Friday12 October.

Fronted by charismatic and talented Adam Edwards, the band have built onAdam’s renowned acoustic talents from Oswestry Music Live outings. This, theirdebut, on a run of 2,000 CDs, shows a band who have the potential to becomea great outfit, if they can keep their heads and keep on working.

Adam has only taken up electric guitar in the past 12 months. What he’sachieved is quite remarkable. No wonder co-producer Phil Beaumont, who’scaught the spirit of the band to perfection, has great faith in them.

Their stylisngs, Indie, Rock, Pop-Punk pack plenty of muscle, which shouldappeal to a huge audience across the UK as they support Francis Dunnery. It’sa rip-roaring start with pop-punk Waiting For That Day To Come. Crunchingguitars lash out before the pace lifts even higher, then dropping againamongst some blistering guitar solos. This is followed by equally freneticTraffic Lights, a tale of a man caught with a hooker on ‘PleasureBeach’.

Gary Ablett, will no doubt become their signature tune, and should beconsidered for a single release. Showing they can mix it, Stop The Pop,is an observational piece about a drunkard, it contains some powerful riffs. Amellower Chavtastic sees Adam having a dig at chav culture like this,“With their Rockports on / Their checkered Burberry hats / With theirtrack-suits on / And their socks tucked out”.

On Ultimate Blow, they show more maturity, a catchy pop ditty with asing-along chorus that will no doubt become another concert anthem. There’ssome deft and sharp solos again here. One of the best tracks is Magical Place,soaring solos and great rhythm section carry it, well, to a magical place.

What’s even more incredible about The Kays is their ages – Adam Edwards (vocals/guitar)18, Jake Hawley (guitar) 18, Ian Smith (bass) 18, and Tom Jarvis (drums) 17.With Adam’s sharp observational lyrics and his rock-solid band mates, they’regoing to surprise a lot of people.
