Who Wants to be a Millionaire? 2nd Edition

Christmas must be just around the corner now that it’s time for anotherTV-cash-in for Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, this being thesecond game in the series with another 1000 questions to be asked and ponderedover.

The main differences this time round are that Chris Tarrant himself readsout all the questions and the possible answers, although you can skip the audioif you want to speed things up. Also, you can see the audience, even if they’reas static as cardboard and don’t cough when the right answers appear…

Like last time, Tarrant stretches things out to longer than they need be, suchas the camera pulling back to reveal two empty chairs and those watching,just to show how many questions you are away from the million. Why can’t abutton press skip this as it becomes as much a pain as the “opening door”sequence in all the Resident Evil games which never goes away.

Again, it’s a pointless experience. You won’t win any real money, but this timeyou can walk away at any part in the game, although that’s an unnecessary featuretoo and Tarrant’s delaying doesn’t make you want to play the game more andmore, but just irritates you.

The “Phone-a-friend”s still pretend to sound surprised, even though in reallife this is organised in advance by a researcher on the programme.

This Xmas, stick with The Weakest Link which is the new “Millionaire”and is still seeming a lot fresher than its ITV counterpart.
