Resurrecting the Champ

Resurrecting the Champ: There are always two sides to every story

A writer, like a boxer must stand alone. When the truth is revealed, there is nowhere to hide.

Samuel L Jackson and Josh Hartnett star in this gripping true story of deception focusing on a struggling writer and an ex-heavyweight boxing champion. Experience one man’s battle for integrity as RESURRECTING THE CHAMP comes to DVD from 13 February 2012, courtesy of Momentum Pictures.

Erik Kernan Jr. (Hartnett; Lucky Number Slevin, Pearl Harbour) needed something big to get his life back on track, but what he found was more than he could have hoped for. Now the story he just told, is nothing compared to the one he’s about to live…From director Rod Lurie (The Contender, Straw Dogs), RESURRECTING THE CHAMP tells the tale of compassion of up-and-coming sports journalist Erik who is desperate to escape from under his broadcaster father’s shadow to become a renowned writer and make his family proud.

On intercepting an alley brawl, Kernan comes across an old homeless man (Jackson; Pulp Fiction, Unbreakable) who calls himself ‘The Champ’ and claims to be the heavyweight boxer Bob Satterfield, who was ranked at no. 3 in the world in the mid 1950s. Erik writes an article with the help of the old fighter to write his biopic and retells heroic stories about matches of the past.

As Kernan’s article gets syndicated to much critical acclaim, significant offers swarm in to further his career. However, things aren’t always as they seem and Erik’s good fortune quickly takes a downward turn and his morals are brought into question. When faced with a challenging decision, how far would you go to succeed and protect your family?

Enjoy powerful and poignant lead performances and a formidable supporting cast including Kathryn Morris (Minority Report, A.I Artificial Intelligence) Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives, The New Adventures of Superman) and Oscar Nominee Alan Alda (The Aviator, What Women Want).

Packed with pathos and hope, make sure you don’t miss RESURRECTING THE CHAMP when it comes to DVD from 13 February 2012.
