Skiptrace stars Jackie Chan and Johnny Knoxville as wise-cracking buddy-buddy cop-partner things who… hang on, we’ve been here several times before. Yes, based on the trailer, this is like Rush Hour but less annoying, since no-one is more annoying than Chris Rock. Well, maybe Kevin Hart.
The bland description is simply: A detective from Hong Kong teams up with an American gambler to battle against a notorious Chinese criminal, but at 107 minutes, it sounds like it’ll be about 17 minutes too long.
Directed by Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Cliffhanger), Jackie Chan is… Bennie Chan, while Johnny Knoxville is… Connor Watts. But, they’re basically playing themselves as always.
The film also stars Eric Tsang, Eve Torres, Winston Chao and the stunning Bingbing Fan.
With a budget of $32m, it’s a comparatively low-budget mainstream feature, so if it’s a hit, expect a trilogy.
Skiptrace is released in China on July 21st, but as of yet there’s no UK date.
