My BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW of STICK on APPLE TV+!

Stick Stick centres around Owen Wilson (Bliss) as Pryce Cahill, a former pro-golfer, whose career went off the rails 20 years ago, now leaving him selling expensive golf gear, while living from one paycheque to the next – which isn’t good when you live in a big house with his soon-to-be-ex-wife – but then he avoids his bills and the place is a shit-tip.

However, he still feels he has more to give, by coaching other players, and bets the farm on young protege Santi (Peter DagerInsidious 5: The Red Door), although while it would normally be impressive to see someone shot-perfect, all the swings and hits are obviously CGI.

After seeing him wound up in a bar by a man, who’s trying to bet that he’ll miss when sinking a simple putt, Pryce needs money from his ex-wife – Amber-Linn (Judy GreerGuardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 IMAX 3D) – to get the new venture going.

However, he’s just another underdog character with personal problems, and although an element of drama is thrown in with a tragedy from earlier in his life – as opposed to Owen just goofing around 24/7 – this element just seems to come and go without a second thought.

Additionally, Stick is just as flat as the perfect putting green, with Owen Wilson just playing Owen Wilson and nothing else, while everyone else is just treading water. I just can’t get into this whatsoever.

As such, while the billing states it’s a “feel-good sports comedy about a found family and their relationships set within the world of golf as it has never been shown before“, to me, Stick is stuck in the bunker, and a massive bogey!

Stick is on Apple TV+ from tomorrow, but isn’t yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD.
