The Consultant is the new job for Christoph Waltz (Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio), as… yes, a consultant, called Regus Patoff.
In this company, games coders code titles for mobile phone entertainment, but then if they don’t create the games. Who’s at the top, coming up with these ideas, and built up as if he’s the next Willy Wonka?
Well, you’ll find out early on when you watch it.
However, after a situation happens and Patoff turns up, it doesn’t make any sense why the office is closed down – as well as leaving it open with all the computers still running throughout the night. Either way, meet the new Sheriff in town, and he’s going to be the consultant to CEO Sang Woo, despite the fact that the business is shuttered, and so there’s no reason for anyone to be there at present.
Still, at least Regus has plans, and arranges a meeting for 9am that morning – despite only two members of staff being there to hear this – Craig (Nat Wolff – Death Note) and Elaine (Brittany O’Grady) – and when the office is shut… but once he delivers his missing, then if you insist on working from home, you have one hour to get into the building before you’re fired. That’s not on, surely!
However, why would he be hired for the job when he doesn’t even know they write games for mobile phones?
Patoff is certainly an odd chap, and at times, is even more direct than the Terminator! In fact, with the two episodes I’ve seen, everythjing he does is beyond clandestine, or doesn’t make sense to the average individual, so he comes across as very sketchy. However, he’s perfectly charming to the CEO’s mother, known affectionately as Mama Sang.
Even with just 30 minutes to an episode, there’s so much more I could say, but…. NO SPOILERS! Just be aware that it’s all very dark, and getting even more so by the minute. I definitely want to check out more.
