The Forger tells the tale of world’s best art forger Raymond Cutter (John Travolta), making a deal with a crime syndicate to get an early release from prison, but in return he must pull of an impossible heist – he must forge a painting by Claude Monet, steal the original from a museum, and replace it with a replica so perfect that no one will notice. He enlists the help of his father, Joseph (Christopher Plummer) and son, Will (Tye Sheridan) and together they plan the heist of their lives!
Also starring Jennifer Ehle (Spooks: The Greater Good) and Abigail Spencer (True Detective), and directed by Philip Martin (Birdsong, which starred Eddie Redmayne), this film looks a little slapdash and one that may not work that well, but the presence of Plummer looks like it’ll pull through. Travolta can be hit or miss, since his resurrection after 1994’s Pulp Fiction.
The Forger is released in the USA on April 24th but doesn’t yet have a UK date.
