The Last Weekend is the sixth and final episode of Inside No.9 Series 8.
Joe (Steve Pemberton) and Chas (Reece Shearsmith) are a couple who’ve been together 9 years, and are spending the weekend at No.9, a very grim house, where Chas is disgusted about the state of the place.
In fact, he even finds some cheese on the floor, causing Joe to quip that heshould put it in the mouse trap… even though mice prefer chocolate and/or peanut butter 😉
However, While Joe’s in the toilet, Chas sees his partner’s phone ring with a name he doesn’t recognise, although Joe has other concerns…
Along the way, you see the ups and downs in their relationship, plus Sheila Reid (Dreamland) guest-stars as Mollie, and she’s come round to play Monopoly. Chas is glad he’s “won second prize in a beauty contest”, but Joe counters with, “Who came first? Shane MacGowan(?)”
There’s obviously not lot I can say prior to broadcast, but safe to say I certainly wasn’t expecting the way this was going to turn out, and it’s a decent end to the series.
Of course, few Inside No.9 episodes are going to get people talking as much as the Lee Mack episode did…
