The Silence is a forthcoming Netflix movie This looks like a redo of A Quiet Place with Stanley Tucci playing Stanley Tucci as always. It looks fine as a film, and Tucci’s fine, here, but he never changes, quite frankly… except when he played Merlin in Transformers: The Last Knight.
When the world is under attack from terrifying creatures who hunt their human prey by sound, 16-year old Ally Andrews (Kiernan Shipka), who lost her hearing at 13, and her family seek refuge in a remote haven. But they discover a sinister cult who are eager to exploit Ally’s heightened senses, and it’s based on the acclaimed novel of the same name, also starring Miranda Otto, John Corbett, Kate Trotter and Kyle Breitkopf.
The film is directed by John R Leonetti, who also brought us horror prequel Annabelle, and Wolves at the Door which Mark Kermode said was his worst film of 2017, but… you know what the big critics are like, and quite often, what they hate, I actually like, so I’ll give this a go.
The Silence is released on Netflix on April 10th.
