Tower Of Guns isn’t a terrible game – there’s lots of replay value due to the randomly-generated levels, and if a rogue-like bullet storm FPS shooter is your bag, then take the plunge. It’s priced reasonably enough at £11.99 on Xbox One, and if you have a PS4 you can download it for free on Playstation Plus during April 2015.
The problem is that with so many other games vying for your attention, Tower Of Guns needs to do more. If it looked prettier, that may have helped, but graphics aren’t everything. It’s fun for a time, but the game ultimately lacks depth. Then again, that’s the point and if you’re looking for a quick gaming fix, then this will suffice.
The random level design, and pick-up-and-play nature of the game may make it an attractive proposition for some… just not for me.
(DVDfever Ed asks: “When are we getting the wildebeest-based shooter, Tower Of Gnus? It could be like Goat Simulator, but with Gnus!”
Tower Of Guns is out now on PC, PS3, PS4 and Xbox One.
