US Gold Kickstarter follows hot on the heels of the Ocean: The History kickstarter which Chris Wilkins started in November 2012, raising funds to produce a book on the history of the successful publishing and games development company Ocean Software.
The Kickstarter was successful resulting in Chris and Roger Kean (the editor of 1980’s magazine Crash, Zzap! 64 and Amtix) embarking on a 12-month journey to uncover and document the full history of the company. The book can be purchased on Amazon here.
Chris and Roger are now on the verge of starting a new journey documenting the history of one of Ocean Software’s main adversary’s – U.S. Gold.
I was a massive fan of both Ocean and U.S. Gold games, from back in the day, and have oodles of happy memories playing their games. The Ocean book was a delight and I can’t wait to delve into this latest tome.
A Kickstarter campaign has been started once again to raise the capital to create the book – there are some great perks on offer from games signed by Archer Maclean, who released Dropzone through the publisher, to signed artwork from Newsfield’s Oliver Frey – the artistic talent who created the eye catching covers of Crash, Zzap and Amtix.
The Kickstarter can be found here, and is already onto the stretch goals, the main target of £15,000 being reached in less than a week into the campaign.
