Whiplash stars Miles Teller as Andrew Neyman, a young musician who struggles to make it as a top jazz drummer.
That doesn’t sound like a fascinating premise, but the trailer shows a great performance from J.K. Simmons, as his teacher, who I remember best as Schillinger from prison drama Oz; and Paul Reiser is also in the film but not in the trailer.
Still, Whiplash looks worth a watch and it’s released in the UK on January 16th 2015
