Your Song… if I was to be polite, I would say it’s exactly what you expect.
For some reason, Alison Hammond still hasn’t gone away after breaking the table outside, in Big Brother 3, back in 2002. I guess, for some, she made an impression. Well, for the furniture, anyway.
It’s Britain’s Got Talent, but without any talent. Certainly none in Ms Hammond.
They travel to several cities, starting with Liverpool for the opener, but anyone selected will go on to perform at the London Hackney Empire. Good, that’s miles away from me, so I won’t accidentally go deaf. I’m not sure when these heats were filmed, though. I presume it wasn’t in 2026, since we had permanent rain from Christmas up until the end of February, and this only has partial rain.
Judging the participants are Paloma Faith and Sam Ryder, who seem like good eggs and are inoffensive. It would be nice that if we’re to listen to them sing, perhaps Faith and Ryder should NOT ramble over top of it, and Channel 4 should NOT interrupt the performances with random ‘sob story’ chat? You’ve got plenty of time BEFORE they begin for all of that.
(This is less an issue for the guy doing a cover of a Coldplay song, however)
But then this is for the Gen Z and Gen A individuals, who struggle to watch a film in the cinema without getting their phone out, as I experienced even at Vue Printworks IMAX for Project Hail Mary.
Naturally, no spoilers as to who goes through to the final, but this is more like a Saturday 7pm-type show, rather than primetime 9pm on a Sunday.
Thanks to our friends at Channel 4 for the screener prior to release.
