I Am Cait – Caitlyn Jenner – New Documentary Series

i-am-caitI Am Cait is a forthcoming documentary series about Caitlyn Jenner, who has been described as the most famous openly-transgender person in the world. Caitlyn was born Bruce Jenner, and is a former Olympian, winning gold for the men’s decathlon at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, setting a world record not beaten until 1980.

Today, E! have released a trailer for the new series which follows Jenner’s life following her transition from male to female. She says: “So many people go through life and they never deal with their own issues. No matter what the issues are. Ours happen to be gender identity,” Jenner says in the one-minute promo. “How many people go through life and waste their entire life because they never deal with themselves and be who they are?”

“Isn’t it great that maybe someday you’ll be normal? Just blend into society?” she asks in the promo. “Put it this way: I’m the new normal.”

Personally, I don’t watch the shows about the Kardashians, that have littered the schedules, either.

All the Jenners and the Kardashians are free to do what they want in their lives. I just don’t understand why I have to hear about it. It’s not news and does not embiggen my life in any way. I’m sure they don’t care about the minutiae of my life, either.

All that said, a friend of mine asked: “Why didn’t she call herself Kaitlyn?”

I Am Cait premieres in the US on July 2th at 9pm in the US, but has yet to get a UK date.
