John Lewis are back with another sickly-sweet advert for Christmas where it’s time to vomit again with gushing disdain. And, as usual, it has a hashtag – this time, it’s #ManOnTheMoon.
Sung by Aurora (who?), this is a twinkly twee cover version of Oasis‘ Half The World Away, which many will know as being used as the theme for BBC1’s sitcom The Royle Family, is the aural accompaniment as an old man is shown as living on the moon – hence the hashtag – which made me think – “Ah! That’s where Jimmy Savile got to!”.
As in life on Earth, he entices the services of a child, which results in her sending him a gift, attached to balloons, which quickly float all the way up to the moon. Not even NASA could manage that!
And the gift is a telescope, so he can spy on all the children across the world. Now then, now then, John Lewis! How’s about that, then?!
For anyone who doesn’t know who Savile is, think of Mr Herbert from Family Guy. Same thing.
