Anne Hegerty, aka The Governess on teatime quiz show The Chase, is currently a participant in ITV’s end-of-year dollop of dung known as I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
We’re told the contestants are really in the jungle, and that it’s not a film set (ahem… the lights?) and that there’s no hotel nearby (not even for the crew?)
Well, rest assured that if any of the contestants were in any kind of danger, even though everything they eat will have been triple-checked to make sure it’s safe, ITV would be on it like a rocket as they don’t want to get sued.
Any sort of TV reality gameshow is filled with psychiatrists in the background, who will look into the welfare and psyche of each potential contestant long before they set foot in the ‘jungle’, to the point where they’ll know them better than they know themselves. I’m reminded when Channel 4’s Big Brother (in the good days) used to have a separate Sunday show which looked at all these aspects with expert advice shared in the programme.
Viewers seem to be worrying because she suffers from Asperger’s, and that she must be protected, but hey – GET THIS! Anne Hegerty is aged 60, thus is a grown adult and able to make her own decisions!
So, if you’re panicking about the welfare of Anne Hegerty, then STOP! Because you’ve been well and truly sucked into their bullplop.
Any angst they’re feeling is just because they all have to eat a bit less for a while, and it’ll all be worth it when they leave to a healthy bank account that’s at least £100k better off.
Below, you can see Anne talking about her autism on I’m A Celebrity…
