Black Butterfly looks like a rather silly thriller where Antonio Banderas lets the wrong person into his life.
He’s Paul, a down-on-his-luck screenwriter who picks up drifter Jack (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) and offers him a place to stay. However, when the deranged stranger takes Paul hostage and forces him to write, their unhinged relationship brings buried secrets to light.
It looks rubbish and, since it’s a remake of French thriller, Papillon Noir by Herve Korian, no doubt that was better.
This one’s directed by Brian Goodman, from a script by Marc Frydman and Justin Stanley, and also stars Piper Perabo, Abel Ferrara and Vincent Riotta.
Black Butterfly hasn’t yet got a UK or US release date. I’m not in a rush.
