Bullsye (2024) – Yet another reboot that no-one needed!
At first, I thought Andrew Flintoff, Freddie Flintoff (Don’t Rock The Boat), or whatever he calls himself, presenting this might make it a hit, but no, it’s overlong and tedious. It used to be a 30-minute gameshow and nicely-paced, but now just gets drawn out.
In this Christmas opener, Flintoff spent far too much time blowing smoke up Luke Littler‘s arse. I don’t follow darts at all, but I’m pretty sure there are other players than him?
Plus early on, Flintoff is making jokes about the height of whoever the Tony Green equivalent is… (the credits state Richard Ashdown. No, me neither)
Left me wondering, is he going to tell mother-in-law and anti-Indian jokes next? The ’70s have returned…
Talking of dragging things out, they couldn’t even do the 9-dart prize round without going to a break after the first 3! A bunch of easy questions led to Littler throwing the 3 darts usually reserved for the non-dart player. So, you can imagine how that went.
Also, the Bullseye star prize is an all-expenses paid trip to… er… Cornwall?! Exactly.
Someone clone Jim Bowen and bring him back!
Bullseye (2024) isn’t scheduled for further episodes any time soon, in order to give Flintoff time to remove Littler’s little one from his mouth, but in the meantime, you can suffer this episode on ITVX.
It’s unlikely to ever be released on Blu-ray or DVD.
