Captain Phillips stars Tom Hanks as the titular lead in this film based on a true story, from 2009, when Somali pirates hijacked the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years.
The movie also stars Barkhad Abdi, Barkhad Abdirahman and Faysal Ahmed.
Hanks & director Paul Greengrass were interviewed tonight about Captain Phillips, which opens on October 18th, and C4 reporter Jamal Osman is also in the studio and talks about why the film doesn’t fit with Somali pirate reality.
