My BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW of CAUGHT on Netflix!

Caught Caught is a Spanish thriller for Netflix, based on the Harlan Coben novel of the same name… yes, it’s Harlan Coben time again. His name is coming up more times than Barbara Cartland used to!

We open with Martina, a young woman, expertly playing Vivaldi’s Four Seasons on her violin, or rather miming, in the case of an actress. Yet, she’s interrupted by a phone call from a weird-sounding man in terms of his tone and behaviour, with it sounding like they’ve had conversations before.

Soon after, a young woman called Camila goes missing, and with the focus being on some internet fruit-loop being the criminal, and widowed journalist Ema Garay (Soledad Villamil) is trying to track them down.

Around the same time, she also meets potential new beau Leo Mercer (Alberto Ammann), but struggles to investigate the all-important question: Why is it that a lot of men of advancing years default to growing a scruffy beard?

Either way, even when the dodgy individual is identified, I really can’t begin to get invested in this, as I’m not feeling ‘caught’ by it at all. And while the trailer goes a bit further along the path and I don’t want to give that potential spoiler here, that’s still not bringing me in, and it’s all feeling as pedestrian as a soap opera.

Maybe just one too many Harlan Coben novels have been Netflixed?

Thanks to our friends at Netflix for the screener prior to release.

Caught is not available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but is on Netflix from tomorrow.
