Downton Abbey 2019 leads the new cinema releases September 13th 2019

Downton Abbey 2019This week, there are FOUR new films out for you to choose from, led by Downton Abbey 2019. Here are the titles, with more info below:

    Downton Abbey 2019
    Night Hunter
    Honeyland
    Hustlers

Downton Abbey 2019 – Yes, the series which brought us Hugh Bonneville coughing up blood, and then killing off the family dog just because its name was Isis… this show had it all!

And the plot? The King and Queen are coming to tea. Yes, the family that gets it all for free now leeches off everyone else. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Much like the makers of this tripe.

Director: Michael Engler
Writer: Julian Fellowes (characters)
Stars: Michelle Dockery, Phyllis Logan, Allen Leech, Maggie Smith, Tuppence Middleton, Elizabeth McGovern, Joanne Froggatt, Imelda Staunton, Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Penelope Wilton, Stephen Campbell Moore, Robert James-Collier, Sophie McShera, Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle, David Haig, Raquel Cassidy, Kate Phillips, Max Brown, Kevin Doyle, Joseph Molesley, Simon Jones, Lesley Nicol, James Cartwright, Philippe Spall

Hit or Miss? Verdict: Miss!

Night Hunter

A weathered Lieutenant, his police force, and a local vigilante are all caught up in a dangerous scheme involving a recently arrested, troubled man who’s linked to years of female abductions and murders.

Even with Ben Kingsley in the cast, this doesn’t look like it can be saved. And did Henry Cavill (Justice League) really give up playing Superman for this crap?

Writer/Director: David Raymond
Also stars: Alexandra Daddario, Minka Kelly, Nathan Fillion, Stanley Tucci, Eliana Jones, Sara Thompson, Brendan Fletcher

Hit or Miss? Verdict: Miss!

Honeyland

The last female beehunter in Europe must save the bees and return the natural balance in Honeyland, when a family of nomadic beekeepers invade her land and threaten her livelihood. This film is an exploration of an observational Indigenous visual narrative that deeply impacts our behavior towards natural resources and the human condition.

I can see how this is visually impressive, but it looks like a case of style over substances for me.

Directors: Tamara Kotevska, Ljubomir Stefanov
Stars: Hatidze Muratova, Nazife Muratova, Hussein Sam

Hit or Miss? Verdict: Miss!

Hustlers is inspired by the viral New York Magazine article (which completely passed me by, as I have a life), and follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients.

So, this is basically “Oceans 9“, as it’s the female “Oceans 11“, but…. yep.. women… you’re already ahead of me.

Director: Lorene Scafaria
Writers: Jessica Pressler (magazine article), Lorene Scafaria (screenplay)
Stars: Madeline Brewer, Julia Stiles, Lili Reinhart, Jennifer Lopez, Keke Palmer, Constance Wu, Stormi Maya, Cardi B, Frank Whaley, Mercedes Ruehl

Hit or Miss? Verdict: Miss!
