Dreamcastguy vs RGT 85: Who’ll reach 100k Youtube subscribers first?

Dreamcastguy vs RGT 85
Dreamcastguy vs RGT 85: I’ll state first of all, that I’m a big fan of both of these Youtubers. While my DVDfeverGames channel only has almost 1250 subscribers at the time of posting, and still growing, these two have been rapidly increasing in hits and subs, whilst also both pumping out great content.

As I type, Dreamcastguy has 97,422 subscribers, while RGT 85 has 96,951. Who’ll reach 100k subscribers first?

Both have catchphrases, with the former’s “Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeep dreaming!” and the latter’s “Catch you next time, later.” and I’ve fallen into my own “Cue Genesis” along the way, since I’ve always loved their album, Invisible Touch, and the final – instrumental – track, The Brazillian, as I use a few seconds of that.

All that said, I like how Dreamcastguy adds something to the end of each video in terms of a final thought following his signing off.

RGT 85 covers more topics, but then again more videos doesn’t necessarily mean better videos, e.g. “Switch to sell 30 million by Xmas?” is something that may or may not happen. Personally, I’d consider a Switch when they’re around £250 including a game, instead of £280 with no games, but it’s the kind of clickbait topic which isn’t going to win any friends.

Dreamcastguy has better scripts and word structure. For example, when I write my reviews, I adopted a style similar to Radio 4’s Just A Minute. That gameshow doesn’t allow repetition, deviation or hesitation, so taking the first of those, I won’t repeat the same words over and over (unlike that last sentence)

On RGT 85’s recent video about Nintendo potentially dropping their Virtual Console, with regards to their forthcoming online subscription service, he says people “will rent these games, but they want to BUY these games” and says “these games” a lot in the following sentences. Similarly, he says how it’s like (re: Nintendo) “they might abandon Virtual Console; they might abandon all these games on there”.

When it came to his recent review of the game Extinction, he complained a lot about the repetition in that title. Touche…

All that said, while Dreamcastguy’s climb has been a steady one, RGT 85’s has been rising more rapidly, and as they both reach the 100,000 subscribers mark, I think RGT might just take it, even though, for his longer service and more focused topics, including his Top 10 Thursdays (which reach my Youtube feed late in the evening in the UK, so I save them for a Friday morning), I think he deserves to reach it first.

One thing I’ve learned from both of them, however, is that keep up with the quantity if you’re doing what you love, and can make a decent video each time. Personally, I’d be making more videos, but I also have a ton of posts I want to put up on this website and I struggle to get as much done as I’d like.

Keep at it, however, and when you get to the levels of subscribers that both of these have, then quitting that day job might just become a reality…

So, Dreamcastguy vs RGT 85 – who do you think will beat that target first?

Check out both of these videos from them, subscribe to both, share them with your friends, keep dreaming, catch you next time and later… Cue Genesis.
