Genius is a chronicle of Max Perkins’ (Colin Firth) time as the book editor at the publishers Scribner, where he oversaw works by Thomas Wolfe (Jude Law), Ernest Hemingway (Dominic West), F. Scott Fitzgerald (Guy Pearce) and others.
Directed by Michael Grandage, making his feature-length debut, with a screenplay by John Logan, based on the novel by A. Scott Berg, and also starring Nicole Kidman and Laura Linney, I have to say I was bored rigid watching the trailer for this. It focused almost solely on Colin Firth and Jude Law, as the latter was taking two years to edit an overlong novel, and these days who would care when Katie Price can get a ghost writer to knock one out in a short space of time??
Genius is released in the US on July 29th but as of yet hasn’t got a UK date. Don’t wait up for one.
