My BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW of HOKUM!

HokumHokum Hokum

Hokum is another not-at-all-awaited ‘horror thriller’ where things go yawn in the night.

In this one, Adam Scott (Madame Web) plays writer Ohm Bauman, scripting a desert-based thriller, who starts seeing things that don’t make sense, so the time is right to take a holiday in an Irish hotel in the middle of nowhere and which is a complete shithole, partly because that’s where his parents had their honeymoon, and because it has an old Rosewood tree, where he can spread both sets of their ashes.

If local weirdo-in-the-forest Jerry (David WilmotHamnet), offering him moonshine, isn’t enough to make Ohm run for the hills, how about the witch in the lift, which goes upstairs to the disused honeymoon suite, where even more weird shit can be found?

Along with a ton of mysterious stuff that goes nowhere, Ohm is a massive dick to everyone he meets, so you don’t root for him at all, and wouldn’t care if he bought the farm. The slim amount of interest in the story was whether things would go anywhere between him and hotel employee Fiona (Florence Ordesh).

So, for a score, I’d give Fiona 1, but overall, Hokum is like a 40-minute Inside No.9/Tales of the Unexpected-style drama, but quite dull and which gets dragged out to 100 minutes, before the end credits kick in and save the day. Why the fuck was this even made?

NOTE: There are no mid- nor post-credits scenes.

Hokum is in cinemas now, and is available to pre-order onBlu-ray and DVD.
